Pastors’ Fellowship

I attended yesterday a lunch fellowship of pastors of several churches belonging to the Baptist Missionary Association of the Philippines (BMAP) in Negros Occidental. The fellowship was held at the Bacolod City Living Waters Fellowship, of which church Pastor Gil Gasataya is currently the interim pastor. It was gladdening to see that these pastors are making the effort to come up with a venue where they can pursue “enhancement” and “encouragement” so that they can more effectively meet the needs of their respective congregations. One thing that impressed me during the meeting after lunch was their openness to tapping laypersons as resource speakers. It seems they are willing to acknowledge the fact that there are some laypersons who by virtue of theological training and education, are in a position to be of help to them. I see this not only as humility on their part but also as a sign of serious commitment to the goal of spiritual and theological enhancement. I have already agreed to speak on leadership next meeting, i.e., on the first Monday of April, and I already have the following ideas in mind:

1. A Christian Leader must be Called

2. A Christian Leader must be Competent

3. A Christian Leader must be an Example

4. A Christian Leader must be Equipped

5. A Christian Leader must be Holy

6. A Christian Leader must be Himself
